Nova Cam

Nova Cam is designed for on-device camera capture.

Nova Cam is a CameraX camera for Android 7.0 and newer. It provides photo and video capture, a precision zoom ring, tap-to-focus, exposure controls, flash, timer, aspect-ratio framing, photo filters, optional watermarking, mirror-selfie output, and an in-app media viewer with share and delete.

Nova Cam does not operate an account system, cloud sync, advertising integration, telemetry, or analytics backend. The Android app does not declare the internet permission and cannot transmit camera content to SWFN Studio.

Nova Cam stores media and preferences needed for camera operation.

Nova Cam may store the following information locally on your device:

Nova Cam does not collect names, email addresses, accounts, contacts, precise location, advertising IDs, or payment information. Filenames such as NOVA-IMG-yyMMdd-HHmmss use only the capture timestamp.

Photos, videos, and preferences stay on your device.

Photos and videos are saved through Android MediaStore into the shared camera folder DCIM/NovaCam. On Android 10 and newer this uses scoped MediaStore paths. On Android 9 and older, Nova Cam requests storage permission so it can write that same DCIM/NovaCam directory. Your device gallery and other authorized apps may display this media according to Android permissions.

App preferences and the camera capability profile are stored in Nova Cam's private SharedPreferences. Clearing app data or uninstalling Nova Cam removes those private preferences. Media already saved to DCIM/NovaCam remains until you delete it.

Nova Cam disables Android Auto Backup and excludes private app files, preferences, and databases from cloud backup and device-to-device transfer. Shared photos and videos in DCIM/NovaCam can still be backed up by the device gallery, Google Photos, or another media app you have installed. That backup is controlled by those services, not by Nova Cam.

Camera frames are processed on-device for the features you select.

Live camera frames are used only on the device for preview, focus, exposure, zoom, filter thumbnails, photo capture, and video recording. Selected photo filters, digital crop, ratio framing, orientation normalization, mirror-selfie output, and optional watermarking are applied locally during photo processing. Photo filters are not applied to video.

Video is recorded locally using the highest compatible quality reported by the active camera and device encoder. Nova Cam does not add a watermark to recorded video.

Nova Cam does not request location permission and does not attach GPS coordinates to photos or videos. Successfully processed photos are re-encoded as JPEG on the device. Nova Cam does not perform facial recognition, identity matching, biometric enrollment, or server-side processing of camera imagery.

Captured media is reviewed inside Nova Cam, not by uploading it.

Opening the gallery thumbnail launches Nova Cam's built-in viewer. The viewer lists only photos and videos stored under DCIM/NovaCam. It reads MediaStore fields such as display name, date added, MIME type, width, height, and orientation so it can show and play that media locally.

Share sends the selected local media URI through the Android share sheet to an app you choose. Delete removes the item from device storage after confirmation. On some Android versions, Android may ask you to confirm deletion of that media item.

Preferences and capability details stay in local app storage.

Nova Cam stores settings such as shutter sound, grid, keep-awake, watermark, mirror selfie, and control haptics in private Android preferences. Completing or resetting the on-device camera guide is also stored locally.

The Device Camera Profile reads capability information exposed by CameraX and Camera2, including available rear and front lenses, the active camera ID and hardware level, sensor resolution, available focal lengths, autofocus modes, native zoom range, flash, HDR extension, preview stabilization, Ultra HDR support, maximum JPEG size, and supported video qualities. This information is shown in Settings and is not uploaded to SWFN Studio.

Settings can open this privacy policy in your default browser at /novacam. Nova Cam itself still has no internet permission; the browser you choose handles that page visit.

Nova Cam does not sell or upload your camera media.

Nova Cam does not sell personal data and does not upload live camera frames, photos, videos, audio, settings, or device camera profile information to a SWFN Studio-operated server.

• Android CameraX, MediaStore, and the device media framework process capture operations locally.
• The in-app viewer reads only Nova Cam media already stored on the device.
• If you tap Share, the app you select receives the local media URI and handles it under that app's privacy practices.
• If you open this privacy policy, your external browser handles that request under its own privacy practices.
• Gallery, backup, or cloud-photo apps installed on your device may independently process files in DCIM/NovaCam according to their own settings.

Nova Cam requests camera, optional microphone, and legacy storage access.

• Camera: required for the live viewfinder, focus, zoom, photo capture, and video recording. If denied, Nova Cam cannot provide camera functionality and offers retry or Android Settings access.
• Microphone: used only to include sound in videos. If denied, photo features remain available and video can be recorded silently.
• Storage (Android 9 and older only): WRITE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE is requested so photos and videos can be saved to DCIM/NovaCam. Android 10 and newer use MediaStore and do not need this permission.

Permissions can be reviewed or changed at any time in Android system settings. Nova Cam does not request location, contacts, phone, notifications, advertising ID, or access to the rest of your photo library. It queries MediaStore only for the Nova Cam folder.

Camera, microphone, and storage permissions are not used for advertising, analytics, user profiling, or cross-app tracking.

Captured media remains until you or another authorized app removes it.

Photos and videos saved to DCIM/NovaCam remain under your control and may remain after Nova Cam is uninstalled. Delete them in the Nova Cam viewer, your gallery, a file manager, or another authorized Android media tool.

Private preferences remain until you clear Nova Cam app data or uninstall the app. Because Auto Backup is disabled, those preferences are not restored by Android cloud backup or device transfer.

You control the data and permissions used by Nova Cam.

• Grant, deny, or revoke camera, microphone, and legacy storage access in Android Settings.
• Record videos without audio when microphone access is unavailable.
• Enable or disable watermarking and mirror-selfie output.
• Choose filters, ratios, timers, grid, haptics, and other local settings.
• Review, share, or delete captured media in the in-app viewer or another compatible Android app.
• Clear private preferences from Android app settings or uninstall Nova Cam.

Nova Cam is not designed to collect children's personal information.

Nova Cam does not use a SWFN Studio-operated account system or remote backend, and SWFN Studio does not knowingly collect children's personal information through the app. Camera use by children should be supervised as appropriate.

This policy may be updated as Nova Cam changes.

We may update this policy when Nova Cam adds, removes, or changes features that affect camera processing, media storage, permissions, external services, or server usage. The effective date above identifies the current version.
